My name is Nicolas Jaouen.
I grew up in Normandy, an hour from Paris. When I was 6, I lived with my family in Djibouti, Africa, a period that had a profound impact on me. When I was 10, I began studying guitar, taking lessons in bluegrass and finger picking.
As a teenager, I joined bands. We played blues, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Led Zep, Bob Marley, and more.
At the same time, my older brother, a DJ, introduced me to all the classics of soul, funk, and disco. From James Brown to Shalamar, from Curtis Mayfield to S.O.S Band... It was also the discovery of Hip-Hop with MC SOLAAR, IAM, NTM, SNOOP DOG, THE ROOTS...
After graduating from high school, I took off for the United States where I studied at the BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in BOSTON, where I had the chance to study with great professors and meet amazing musicians.
Back in France, I settled in Paris where I performed extensively and did numerous studio sessions, notably for WARNER MUSIC and SONY MUSIC PUBLISHING.
I performed numerous concerts in France and abroad with my band "JAWEN."
Today, the adventure continues with "APOLLO" where we have just released our 2nd album "PRECIOUS FIVE" produced in my studio, the "SoulDegreeLab" from where the samples of VOL.1 "THE TELECASTER SOUND" also come out.
